Even in our most advancing society, language continues to persists as it is an essential part of our daily lives. It exists all across the world and, though the language differs, the need for communication remains the same. On average, 3000 words are exchanged each day and of those words, as James Geary said, every six minutes a metaphor is spoken. Metaphors are another crucial part of conversing. They allow us to grasp a better understanding of the things that happen around us, as well as explain to others. They help us to paint imagery and draw connections. And, though people may disagree with their interpretations, they help build perspective within ourselves. Metaphors hold power, and it’s up to the user on how to direct it.

Society and the people in it are constantly advancing. New technology, new research, and new ideas are regularly being introduced. As the general public continues to progress, it makes sense that some people get lost and behind. It takes time to reach an understanding, but there is a way to nonetheless. Metaphors are created and used to better the understanding of an individual. They exist in our heads and our given life once they leave our mouths. They help us with perceiving, thinking, and drawing connections. Metaphors can be used to explain new ideas like Erard, draw conclusions like Geary, and even explain diagnosis like Khullar. But all of these factors come together to help us perceive our bodies, experience illness, and pursue health.

Great first paragraph…I liked your idea and stance but I believe you could use more meat in your paragraph and maybe recognize the sources (articles) you’ll be using.

I liked the beginning when communication was mentioned. It’s a great start to the conversation of communication. Why is it essential? What is it? What is it now? Its a great way to introduce your argument and in my opinion, I would try to elaborate on it for more text. Also explore language simultaneously as well.

Go further in depth in the first paragraph about what power metaphors hold. What benefits can be attained by this “power”? Developing this will definitely strengthen the argument

I enjoyed your second introduction. I felt it had a very nice flow to it. I don’t think there is anything I need to critique. I felt that it was well written.
